The Radican Dwarf Gardenia is a smaller version of the beloved Gardenia, luring you outside with a sweet and potent aroma to enjoy during the summer months. It reaches a maximum height of 1-3 feet and width of 3-4 feet, making it a perfect addition to gardens and borders. Its compact size makes it suitable for planting below windows to bring its delightful fragrance into the house. From late spring to late summer, this shrub produces petite white flowers with semi double petals, completely covering the plant. Its shiny, pointed, and leathery leaves resemble those of a Magnolia, providing interest and beauty to the garden year-round. The dark green foliage serves as a stunning backdrop to the dainty white blossoms, which attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators, bringing vibrancy to the garden.

Dwarf Gardenia Radicans, a member of the Rubiaceae family like coffee, is found in its native habitats of tropical and subtropical regions, including China, Japan, and Taiwan. This plant was first discovered in 1761 by English naturalist John Ellis and named after Scottish naturalist Alexander Garden. Several varieties of this fragrant, tropical shrub, including Dwarf Gardenia Radicans, have been bred. Its slow growth and toxicity to humans and pets as a natural defense against herbivores, such as deer, should be noted.

Dwarf Gardenia Radicans is suitable for zones 7 - 11, but it is also perfect for container gardening, making it a great addition to gardens of all ages. With its resistance to pests and diseases, it can thrive in both indoor and outdoor settings, enjoying full to partial sun and well-drained, slightly moist soil with a slightly acidic PH. Frequent watering and the use of mulch can help maintain its high water needs, and a quick press into the soil is an easy way to determine if it needs more moisture. Pruning after flowering and fertilizing with an acid-rich fertilizer in May and June will promote growth and beautiful blooms. The stunning dark glossy foliage and petite, elegant flowers with a strong, sweet fragrance make Dwarf Gardenia Radicans a standout in beds, borders, and containers, calling for gardeners of all ages to come and enjoy their beauty.
