Planting Tips:
- Choose a location with well-draining soil and ample sunlight for optimal growth and blooming.
- Dig a hole twice the width of the plant's root ball and ensure the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface when planting.
- Space multiple Luna Hibiscus Rose plants approximately 2 to 3 feet apart to allow for proper air circulation and growth.
Watering:
- Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during the plant's active growth period.
- Water deeply and thoroughly, ensuring the water reaches the plant's root zone.
- Avoid overhead watering to prevent fungal diseases, instead, use a soaker hose or drip irrigation system.
- Use our Moisture Maxx non-ionic wetting agent in periods of drought. Free with any order over $99.
Mulching:
- Apply a layer of organic mulch, such as bark chips or shredded leaves, around the base of the plant to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.
- Maintain a mulch layer approximately 2 to 3 inches thick, being careful not to pile mulch against the plant's stem, which can lead to rot.
Pruning:
- For optimal growth and appearance, it is recommended to prune Luna Rose Hardy Hibiscus during late winter or early spring, removing any dead or damaged branches to stimulate fresh growth.
- Use sharp shears for clean cuts near a bud.
- Maintain the plant's neat and compact appearance by shaping it to your liking, but be mindful not to over-prune, as this may decrease its bloom production.
Fertilizing Guidelines:
- Feed Luna Hibiscus Rose with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for flowering shrubs in early spring, use what we use, Sr-18-510 slow release fertilizer following our simple instructions.
- Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to excessive vegetative growth at the expense of flowering.
