Pampas Grass is the standard for ornamental grasses. One of the most familiar, White Pampas Grass, has been available to the plant consumer for decades, but it is one of the most used grasses in commercial and residential landscapes across the country. You cannot mistake this impressively large grower with unforgettable large white plumage that towers over the arching blades.

Pampas Grass grows up to 10' feet tall, so there must be some planning for the right location for this fast-growing grass. Pampas does its best in full sun with enough room to spread. Pampas grass will bloom during the summer after most shrubs are long gone and mostly vegetative. It is hardy from zone 7-10, which is why it is one the most popular standard grasses.

Maintenance is a breeze if you have a weed eater that can cut think blades of grass. Prune to the ground in early spring before new growth emerges. I have seen some torch the grass in the dead of winter to remove all growth. Be careful not to attempt this process if the plant is actively growing, as it could damage or even kill your investment.
