Notice
Many of our plants ship in a naturally dormant state during the winter months. This means some will arrive without leaves or visible growth above the soil line. Dormancy is a normal and healthy part of a plant’s life cycle during colder seasons—it helps protect the root system and prepares the plant for vigorous growth in spring. Rest assured, don’t worry if your plants look bare upon arrival—this is normal for the season, and fresh growth will emerge in spring.

Cinnamon Hearts™ Rose (Rosa x ‘VLR13003’) is a compact, shrub-form rose that loads itself with rich scarlet blooms from late spring all the way into fall, giving you continuous color in a tight mounding package that actually fits modern gardens and containers. Each flower opens in clusters of double petals with a golden eye and a light, pleasant fragrance, so the plant reads as a solid block of red from a distance but still rewards a close-up look at the bloom detail. The glossy dark green foliage stays clean and attractive through the season thanks to strong disease resistance, which means less spraying, less babysitting, and more time simply enjoying a healthy, full shrub.

This variety tops out around 2–3 feet tall and wide with a naturally bushy, rounded habit, making it an easy fit along sunny borders, in front of taller shrubs, or in foundation plantings where you want high-impact color without the maintenance of bigger landscape roses. It performs beautifully in pots and patio containers as a “thriller” plant, holding its shape and reblooming steadily so your outdoor seating area never looks tired by midsummer. In mass plantings, spacing plants about three feet apart creates a continuous low hedge of red that reads clean and intentional from the curb.

Cinnamon Hearts™ Rose thrives in full sun and does best in well-drained soil, but it’s not fussy about soil type or pH and is tolerant of a wide range of garden conditions, including urban settings. Hardy in zones 3–9, it handles both cold winters and summer heat when planted in the ground and watered regularly, which gives you a long-lived, reliable shrub even in climates that beat up lesser roses. Under good care it can live for many years, rewarding basic seasonal feeding and a yearly pruning with dense branching and heavy flower set from one season to the next.

Care is straightforward: plant in spring through fall in a sunny spot, enrich the planting area with compost, and water deeply to establish strong roots, letting the soil dry slightly between watering's rather than keeping it constantly wet. A 2–3 inch layer of organic mulch helps keep roots cool, conserves moisture, and suppresses weeds around the base of the shrub, improving performance without extra effort. Prune in late winter or very early spring to remove dead or crossing wood and lightly shape the plant; this quick cleanup encourages fresh growth and sets the stage for another season of nonstop blooms.

Use Cinnamon Hearts™ Rose anywhere you want reliable red flowers, tidy scale, and low drama—tucked into mixed borders with perennials, edging a front walk, filling out a small-space garden, or anchoring a sunny container by the front door. Its reblooming habit means you aren’t gambling on a short flush and then bare stems; instead, you get waves of color over a long season that keep your landscape looking intentional and cared-for with far less work than traditional roses.
